The automatic pattern establishes a strong relationship with reading fluency and auditory short-term memory by allowing the individual to quickly and accurately identify objects, letters and symbols. While short-term (working) memory plays a critical role in processing, remembering and making sense of information; Visual processing contributes to the effective interpretation of visual data, which constitutes a large part of learning. Phonological awareness, as the ability to distinguish and structure sounds in spoken language, forms the basis of reading and writing and needs to be developed through planned education at an early age. Supporting these skills, especially in the preschool period, provides a significant advantage in strengthening children's fluent reading and reading comprehension skills in the following years.
